Course Introduction ›

ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems (QMS), the world's recognized quality management standard has recently been revised. A new version of ISO 9001, namely ISO 9001:2015, has been launched to replace the earlier version, that is ISO 9001:2008. It establishes the quality management requirements in order to help businesses and organizations to be more efficient and improve customer satisfaction.

The standards are reviewed every 5 years and revised if needed to ensure they remain as useful tools for the marketplace. ISO 9001 has been updated to accommodate the challenges faced by business and organizations today that are very much different from decades ago. For example, the evolution of globalization has changed the way we do business and organizations often require more complex supply chains than they did in the past. In addition to this, expectations from customers and the parties involved have been increased due the increased of information accessibility. Therefore, ISO 9001 needs to reflect such changes in order to for it to remain relevant.

ISO 9001:2015 offers the following benefits:

  • Puts greater emphasis on leadership engagement.
  • Helps address organizational risks and opportunities in a structured manner.
  • Uses simplified language and a common structure and terms, which are particularly helpful to organizations using multiple management systems, such as those for the environment, health & safety, or business continuity.
  • Addresses supply chain management more effectively.
  • More user-friendly for service and knowledge-based organizations.
