This course also focuses on Accident Investigation Techniques & Mitigation. It will also provide participants with the fundamental skills needed to prevent occupational injuries & illnesses. The course content will include: accident/incident analysis techniques, risk assessment, accident investigation & reporting techniques, identifying unsafe acts & conditions, job observation techniques, developing safe operating procedures, safety and health hazard recognition, analyzing accidents/incidents, and developing special emphasis accident prevention programs. Emphasis will be placed on safety hazards such as material handling, machine guarding, housekeeping, personal protective equipment, fire prevention, process safety, handling of hazardous materials & other selected preventive mechanisms.

After attending this 2-day Accident Investigation, Prevention & Mitigation course, participants should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to apply accident prevention techniques to the work environment.
  • Conduct an accident analysis & determine causes & interventions.
  • Develop accident assessment instruments & utilize them in conducting accident investigations.
  • Recognize both safety & health hazards in a variety of scenarios.
  • Design, implement & apply preventive measures for specific safety & health scenarios.
  • Properly & effectively investigate accidents.
  • Determine the cause of an accident
  • Take corrective action to prevent future accidents.
  • Properly document all areas of an investigation.
  • Follow up on corrective measures
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to apply accident prevention techniques to the work environment.
  • Carry out a job safety analysis and develop safe operating procedures for that job.
  • Delineate the components & procedures for making risk assessments & define their application to the workplace.
  • Describe the principles for developing & implementing accident prevention programs.
